2021 Season

An Important Update Regarding the 2020-2021 Season

After consulting with health officials about the state of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is clear that producing the second half of our season will not be possible.

For the safety of our artists and audience members, we have decided to cancel the remainder of our season, including the world premiere of Cathy Marston's Of Mice and Men and the Joffrey premiere of George Balanchine's Serenade (February 17-28, 2021), as well as John Neumeier's The Little Mermaid (April 21-May 2, 2021).

This is yet another difficult reality in an already stressful year. However, we have reason to be optimistic. Our Company Artists and Academy students are back at Joffrey Tower for limited classes, and we continue to work with Chicago Public Schools to provide virtual curriculum through our Community Engagement programs. We are also excited to introduce our Joffrey Studio Series, a new digital offering that welcomes you to the intimate studios of Joffrey Tower that launches later this fall. Our mission of sharing dance with the world will not stop.

You have already shown us incredible generosity, but we must once again ask you to consider converting the remainder of your season tickets to a fully tax-deductible donation to The Joffrey Ballet. We face a challenging financial reality. But with your help, we will return to the stage stronger than before. Robert Joffrey founded this organization on the basis of innovation. We will honor that legacy.

Thank you for your attention and consideration. We look forward to seeing you back at the theater in the fall of 2021.

Sincerely,

2020-2021 Season Sponsors:

Abbott Fund, Alphawood Foundation Chicago, Daniel and Pamella DeVos Foundation, and The Florian Fund
