Brian Smith has joined the Joffrey Ballet as chief marketing officer. He will be responsible for marketing strategy and execution, including brand development, analysis of purchase trends and other market research, concept and product development, advertising, media planning, direct marketing and promotional planning. Smith, 44, has extensive experience in non-profit arts communications in the Chicago area and across the country, most recently as director of marketing and development for the Chicago Loop Alliance. He also has held similar jobs as the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, the Lookingglass Theatre Company, the Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle and the Actors Theatre of Louisville.
