I realize it has been a very long time since I have posted, but you all are certainly not forgotten! It's that time of year again...a new year for all of us, for your Chicago ballet company.  The Joffrey Ballet is opening tomorrow with the premiere of Yuri Possokhov's Don Quixote.  It is a first for us and I have to say it is an incredible production with a great deal of surprises.  It is definitely not going to disappoint our Chicago fans, and even those of you who know all about the ballet will be amazed at what we are putting on stage.

Yuri was looking to cut out a lot of unnecessary scenes and filler in order to keep the ballet running at a high pace.  He is the same choreographer that created the wonderful "Bells" ballet for us last spring.  He is a former San Francisco ballet dancer, but truly has emerged as an incredible mind of movement, creation, and innovation for new works and old.

The ballet is going to be a little shorter compared to the original production, and I admit that the use of technology gives it a more up to date look.  I always come back to it, but the Joffrey is always looking forward, always working tirelessly to please and provoke our audience, and we are sure not to disappoint you this season.  It is undoubtedly going to be another great year with tons of surprises.

See you soon!!
