Joffrey Ballet names new development officer

Sarai Hoffman has joined the Joffrey Ballet's executive leadership team as chief development officer. She will report to recently-arrived Joffrey Executive Director Greg Cameron.

Noted Cameron: "Her (Hoffman) career aligns with the Joffrey's mission. Sarai is creative, smart and strategic — her love of dance (she took her first ballet class at age 5) and passion for Joffrey will be central to our growth and transformation."

In her new role, Hoffman, 52, will be responsible for nurturing the Joffrey's philanthropic culture and developing donors and volunteers to support the organization.

Hoffman brings to the city's largest ballet group more than 20 years of experience in fundraising for some of Chicago's leading cultural and educational institutions. Most recently, Hoffman was chief development officer of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago. Previous to that she had development office roles at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Hoffman hold a BFA from the University of Utah, and continuing education credits from the Kellogg Center for Nonprofit Management.
