We are pleased to relay that late yesterday the Office of the Press Secretary to the President of the United States issued a statement naming nominees for key administrative posts.  Among them was Joffrey Chairman Fred Eychaner as General Trustee, Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

President Obama said, “These impressive men and women will bring a wealth of

experience to their new roles. I am confident they will serve the American people

well, and I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead.”

Fred Eychaner is the founder and chairman of Alphawood Foundation and of

Newsweb Corporation. He previously served as a director of the AIDS Foundation

of Chicago and as secretary and director of the Auditorium Theatre Council. He is

presently chairman of the Joffrey Ballet and a life trustee of the Art Institute of

Chicago.

Fred Eychaner’s leadership has been instrumental in establishing the Joffrey firmly in Chicago and making it one of America’s most revered arts organizations.  We are proud to have our chairman and friend recognized with this most well-deserved and auspicious honor.  The Joffrey Ballet also sends heartfelt congratulations to Chicagoan Penny Pritzker, a friend and supporter of the Joffrey, for being appointed to the Kennedy Center Board as well.

As you know, The Joffrey Ballet has been hailed as “America’s Company of Firsts.” These include being the first dance company to perform at the White House at Jacqueline Kennedy’s invitation. The Joffrey Ballet has a longstanding relationship with the Kennedy Center having performed their nearly every year for the past 39 years. The Joffrey will be presenting America’s #1 Nutcracker at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in November 2010.

We look forward to seeing you in October for the opening of the Joffrey Stars Season!

With thanks and best wishes,

Ashley and CCC
