The Joffrey Ballet announced today that Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has
been named the honorary chairman of the Joffrey Ballet board of
directors. Mayor Emanuel, a former dancer, has a history with the
Joffrey beginning at age 17 when he was offered a scholarship to study
with the troupe. He opted to pursue dance at Sarah Lawrence College.
The board also elected Jason Tyler, a senior vice president at Ariel
