In Creases
Choreographer: Justin Peck
Music: Philip Glass
Still a dancer with New York City Ballet, Justin Peck has launched his choreographic career with a “buzz” rarely found these days in dance circles. Praised for poetic structure, musicality and invention, The New York Times described In Creases as a “dreamscape that heightens the progress and colors of its score.”

Liturgy
Choreographer: Christopher Wheeldon
Music: Arvo Pärt
Liturgy is an abstract duet Christopher Wheeldon created during his time as resident choreographer for the New York City Ballet. Set to a haunting score by Arvo Pärt, the work is an intriguing exploration of movement and music with complex, innovative partnering. The New York Times called it “wondrous…a striking experiment on a high plane.”
Joffrey Premiere
Evenfall
Choreographer: Nicolas Blanc
Music: Max Richter
Created for Joffrey Ballet dancers by one of our ballet masters, this lyrical piece follows the thread of poetry running through the lives of a couple at the beginning of their romance, and in their autumn years. As the poet suggests, life is a collection of memories.

Incantations
Choreographer: Val Caniparoli
Music: Alexandre Rabinovitch-Barakovsky
Incantations, set to a meditative score of the same name by Russian minimalist composer Alexandre Rabinovitch-Barakovsky, is a 27-minute, abstract work that was created by Caniparoli for the Joffrey. The arc of the music and the ballet is continuous movement, akin to a vortex or a mantra creating a zen-like spiral of movement and emotion. Underlying this spiral motion is a sense of human spirituality, mysticism and prayer.
*Performance runs approximately two (2) hours with two (2) intermissions.
Please join us for our Meet the Artists pre-performance discussion series on April 25th, 30th and May 2nd as Joffrey Ballet Master Nicolas Blanc talks about the creative process for his work Evenfall. For more information, click here.
