Born in Gold Coast Australia Aaron Smyth trained with Prudence Bowen Atelier and Dianne Talbot. He then attended the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre on full scholarship, under the direction of Franco De Vita. Smyth was then promoted to ABT II under the Direction of Wes Chapman, with ABT II he performed Grand Pas Classique and Stars and Stripes Pas De Deux, as well as many new choreographic works. He Danced demonstrations at the Guggenheim Museum, he also performed in leading roles in Jessica Lang’s La Belle Danse, Vivace Mottifs and Oblivion. He was also featured in the Armani Ad campaign for W magazine with fellow JKO dancers.

Mr. Smyth was an Artist with the Royal Ballet in 2012 where he performed in various full length and contemporary ballets as well as participating in collaboration with the National Gallery & the Royal Ballet where he created a role in Christopher Wheeldon’s Titian: Metamorphosis.

Smyth was "Showcase" Australian Dancer of The Year in 2006, in 2008 he won the Gold Medal at the Genee International Ballet Competition as well as the Bravo Audience Choice Award. In 2010 Smyth was a Finalist at the Prix De Lausanne and also won the Silver Medal (Partner) at the USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson Mississippi. In 2012 he was the Silver Medalist at the Cape Town International Ballet Competition and also received the Silver Medal at the Beijing International Ballet and Choreography competition in 2013. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance Solo Seal Award as well as coming in 3rd place on the Australia’s Got Talent Television Series.

Mr. Smyth’s guest appearances began in 2009 where he performed at the Metropolitan Opera House in American Ballet Theater’s Spring Gala introduced by the First Lady Michelle Obama. That same year he was invited to perform at the Royal Academy of Dancing Gala in Tokyo Japan. In 2010 Smyth performed at the AT&T Medalists Encore Gala in Jackson Mississippi. He performed at The Stars of the 21st Century Gala in Panama and at the Sydney Opera House for the McDonald's Australian Ballet Scholarships in 2011. In 2012 he performed at The International Olympic Committee Gala at the Royal Opera House in honoree of the London Olympic Games, and in 2013 he performed in the Beijing International Ballet Awards Gala in China  and the Seoul International Dance Gala in Korea. For the past three years he has been a guest artist at The International Ballet Gala in South Africa.

Aaron has also appeared on Australian morning TV show 'Sunrise' and the Kerrie-Anne Kennerley show. Smyth also performs as a guest artist with many prominent dance companies around the world. Aaron is thrilled to be performing with The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago and proud to be making this is home company.
