Abigail Simon joined The Joffrey Ballet as a company member in 2006. With the Joffrey she has performed Age of Innocence, Nutcracker (Clara), Carousel a Dance, Giselle, Les Noces, Green Table, Le Sacre du Printemps, Hand of Fate, Sometimes it Snows in April, Reflections, Mobile, Postcards, Lilac Garden, Cinderella (Spring Fairy), Les Presages, Kettentanz, Tarantell, Stravinsky Violin Concerto, Julia Adam’s Night, The Merry Widow (Valencienne) and Yuri Possokhov's Don Quixote, (Cupid).

 

Prior to joining the Joffrey, Ms. Simon danced with American Ballet Theater Studio Company and was an apprentice with American Ballet Theater. Her experience with the ABT Studio Company includes roles in Monotones I, Symphony in C (Demi Soloist third movement), Sleeping Beauty (Diamond pas de deux), Raymonda (Principal), Divertimento #15 (Principal) and La Viviandiere among others. She has also performed the pas de deux from Flower Festival, and was a principal in Chopiniana.

 

Born into a family of performing artists, at the age of 3, Ms. Simon began dancing and acting. She trained with the School of American Ballet, Ballet Hispanico and the West Side Academy of Dance in Santa Monica. She has attended Summer Programs in Kaatsbaan and Chautauqua, as well as the Royal Ballet School in London. As a child, she performed many roles with The New York City Ballet.

 

She has been privileged to dance new choreography by many distinguished choreographers including, Christoper Weeldon, Edwaard Liang, Sean Curran, Stephen Mills, Jessica Lang, Benjamin Millepied, Brian Reeder, Laura Gorentein Miller, Gillian Lynne and Ted Seymour.

 

Ms. Simon has a great love of teaching and has been invited to teach in many prestigious dance schools. Her hobbies include Yoga, Pilates, Gyrotonics, singing and cooking.
