Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Einnaf began her dance training at the Kalamazoo Ballet Company and La Pique Dance Studio. Ms. Smith-Austin attended the University of Michigan (97-01) majoring in dance, education and history, and graduating with a BFA and teaching certification. In 2004 Ms. Smith-Austin moved to Chicago to teach dance and history at King College Prep High School. Since then Einnaf has taught for South Shore School of the Arts, All-City Dance Company, Advanced Arts Educational Program, South Shore Cultural Center, The Connection, Oakwood Shores and has recently taught in La Ceiba Honduras. In 2010 Ms. Smith was awarded the Oppenheimer grant for Gallery 37’s dance department affording them $7,000 in new costumes. Ms. Smith-Austin loves bringing dance and movement to her students and one day hopes to have her own dance company.
