Fernando Duarte

Fernando Duarte was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the age of nine he began his studies of ballet at Dalal Achcar Dance Academy and later at the Maria Olenewa Municipal School of Dance. In 2008, Fernando attended The Harid Conservatory Summer Intensive, where he won a full scholarship for the Academic Year. While at The Harid Conservatory, he was awarded Excellence in Dance Performance by Jennot Cerrone and most improved during an Academic Year.

He received his training by Raymond Lukens and Franco De Vita, principal of the Jacquelyn Kennedy Onassis School at the American Ballet Theatre under a full tuition scholarship. Fernando was then accepted into the Trainee program at The Joffrey Ballet in Chicago with a full tuition scholarship and trained for two years under the direction of Alexei Kremnev and Anna Reznik, Joffrey Academy Artistic Directors. As a Joffrey Academy Trainee, Fernando had the opportunity to perform with The Joffrey Ballet company in their premiere of Don Quixote, choreographed by Yuri Possokhov.

Duarte has had the pleasure of working with great names in the dance world such as Dalal Achcar, Janice Botelho, Marisa Estrella- in Brazil - as well as all the teachers from the Harid Conservatory and their resident choreographer Mark Godden and Susan Jaffe from American Ballet Theatre, among others.

Fernando is very thankful for all the opportunities and the support given to him from his parents and teachers in Brazil as well as in the USA.
