Jack Thorpe-Baker is in his first season with The Joffrey Ballet. Born in London, England, Jack began studying at Elmhurst School for Dance in Association with Birmingham Royal Ballet before completing his training at the English National Ballet School on a full scholarship. As a student he worked with English National Ballet and the Stuttgart Ballet, and was a featured soloist in the film adaptation of the Noel Streatfield novel Ballet Shoes.

 

Since graduating Jack has worked at the National Ballet Brno, Czech Republic and the Slovakian National Ballet. At these companies he had the opportunity of performing a variety of soloist and corps de ballet roles, including works by Jiri Kylian, James Kudelka, Paul Lightfoot/Sol Leon, George Balanchine, Youri Vamos, Fernand Nault and Mario Radacovsky, as well as the full roster of classical ballets. During this time he appeared again as a featured dancer in the BBC film adaptation of the life of Margot Fonteyn, collaborating with English National Ballet dancers and the Ballet Boyz.

 

Jack is thrilled to be joining the Joffrey Ballet, and would like to thank his family for their continual love and support.
