Nikki Smith

Nikki Smith is a native of Columbus, Ohio where she obtained a B.A. in Journalism from The Ohio State University. Although her career path took her into corporate America, dance has always played a part in her life in some capacity. Upon relocating to Chicago in 1998, her passion for dance further blossomed when she began formal ballet training at the Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center under the direction of Homer Bryant.

In 1999, Nikki became a member and eventually, leader of Refiner’s Fire Dance Ministry. She served as a choreographer, facilitating numerous liturgical dance workshops and has travelled extensively to perform, both with the team and as a soloist.

Simultaneously, she caught the “Salsa bug,” which led her to pick up a variety of other Latin dances. Initially, she began teaching/performing Latin dance alongside her former dance partner, but by 2006, was facilitating workshops at local dance studios as well as Summit Recreation and Parks.

Nikki currently trains at Joffrey Ballet Academy and has recently left corporate America to be a teaching artist for the Joffrey Bridge Program and Changing Worlds.
