Suzanne Lopez



Suzanne Lopez was born and raised in Summit, New Jersey, and trained at the Garden State Ballet School, New Jersey School of Ballet and the Joffrey Ballet School in New York. Upon graduating from high school, she was asked to join the Joffrey II Dancers. After one year, she was invited to join The Joffrey Ballet. Ms. Lopez retired from the Joffrey in June 2010, after a 20-year career with the Company. She danced principal roles in ballets by such choreographers as Gerald Arpino, Robert Joffrey, George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Alonzo King, John Cranko, José Limón, Antony Tudor, Twyla Tharp, Lar Lubovitch, and Frederick Ashton. She was also featured in world premieres by Edwaard Liang, Donald Byrd, Jessica Lang, and Margo Sappington, among others.


Ms. Lopez has worked as a Ballet Master for the Joffrey, and has rehearsed and staged works for the Company. She has also been a guest teacher, stager and coach at various schools and companies around the country. Currently Ms. Lopez teaches at the Joffrey Academy of Dance, Chicago Ballet Arts, and the Chicago High School for the Arts.
