Ute Ertel-Ulmer

Ute Ertel-Ulmer was born in Heinsberg, Germany and is a graduate from Hessen’s University of Marburg Law School where she majored in International Law.

Ute has long established connections to the Chicago area where she completed graduate studies and worked as an immigration specialist for a major Milwaukee law firm in the 1980s.

Family moves have taken Mrs. Ertel-Ulmer from Frankfurt to Switzerland, Manchester, Gloucestershire and Hamburg before landing back in Chicago in 2006.

Dance has been a source of strength and a wellspring for vitality as Ute managed career and family. She attributes her successes managing at Yamaichi Securities in Frankfurt and establishing her own translation/editing company to the serenity of the dance. As Executive Assistant to the Egyptian Consul in Hamburg, Mrs. Ertel-Ulmer enjoyed working with the Cairo Ballet.

Dance has been an integral part of Ute’s life from childhood to her training in the Vaganova Method in Switzerland. She continued studying Cecchetti under Kate Simmons in the U.K. before immersing herself in classical ballet and repertory studies with teachers from the Staatsoper Hamburg, home of the Hamburg Ballet.

Mrs. Ertel-Ulmer is thrilled to be able to combine her passion for dance with her professional skills working with Pierre Lockett and Linda Swayze to inspire young people via Joffrey Ballet’s Advanced Arts Education Program. Ute has been assisting with the professional training of Chicago Public Schools high school students since 2008.
