Edwaard Liang’s world premiere, Age of Innocence.
Fall Program October 15 – 26, 2008
Postcards Choreography by Robert Joffrey
Music by Erik Satie Postcards will be presented in honor of our co-founder, Robert Joffrey. This romantic piece was his last choreographed work for the company and is considered one of his best. It
is a picture postcard from Paris at the turn of the century, complete with the Eiffel Tower. Early program notes speak of “hidden meanings - a shared discovery, a suggestion of intimacy,
a knowing smile between friends. This revival of Postcards is the first in almost 20 years.
In The Night Choreography by Jerome Robbins
Music by Frederic Chopin
Costume Design by Carole Divet Harting
Three exquisitely romantic pas de deux explore love in all its phases, from young and tender to fiery and falling apart – and then meet in a dance for six. Inthe Night is
considered by many to be one of world renowned choreographer, Jerome Robbins’, most sublime works. Joffrey Premiere Age of Innocence Choreography by Edwaard Liang
Music by Philip Glass and Thomas Newman
Costume Design by Maria Pinto
The young Edwaard Liang, a hot and brilliant new talent in American dance, was named among “Top 25 to Watch” by Dance Magazine. This world premiere ballet, inspired
by the novels of Jane Austen, tells the story of females of that era. It is the story of societal repression and of the strength of the human spirit.
